“Newspaper Activity”



Objective:

This assignment entails that you create a newspaper based on the information you already learned from the text, lectures, activities and other outside resources, as well as material to be covered in subsequent lessons. In this activity you will be required to be creative and present the researched material in the following newspaper format:

Time period: 1800-1960

(a) At least 8 pages in length
(b) 2-3 “Yellow Journalism” articles on the front page
(c) An editorial page
(d) 3 World Related Stories (within time parameters)
(e) 3 National Stories (within time parameters)
(f) An Advice Column
(g) An Almanac
(h) An Interview Column
(i) Obituaries
(j) Advertisements
(k) Work Cited Page (last page of the newspaper)


* Additional articles and columns will enhance your newspaper format and overall grade


BE CREATIVE! This is your chance to present the material you learned in a format that is structured but unconventional. Here is your opportunity to change the perceptions that people have towards historical figures and events. You can present your material in any conceivable way you want as long as you are HISTORICALLY accurate!
